Comprehensive Psychological Assessments

The world can feel like an overwhelming place. It can be hard to know where to start, and to truly understand, ‘what’s going on with me?’ Answering these questions can be a helpful, stress-reducing start on the path and journey of mental health and wellness.

What is a comprehensive psychological assessment?

A comprehensive psychological assessment is a meticulous evaluation of an individual's cognitive, emotional, and behavioral health. It is a cornerstone of comprehensive psychological services, enabling a thorough understanding of an individual's psychological profile.

For example, if a person is having problems at work or school, or in personal relationships, tests can help a psychologist understand whether the person might have issues with anger management or interpersonal skills, or certain personality traits that contribute to the problem. Other tests evaluate whether patients are experiencing emotional disorders such as anxiety or depression.

Our comprehensive mental health assessment cover many different disorders, including schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma and stressor related disorders, bipolar and related disorders, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, somatic symptom and related disorders, adult eating disorders, substance-related and addictive disorders, and personality disorders.

Tests and assessments are two separate but related components of a psychological evaluation. Psychologists use both types of tools to help them arrive at a diagnosis and a treatment plan.
